How to Repurpose a Blog Post into a YouTube Video (Using Canva – No AI Tools) in 2025

Welcome back to our blogging journey! In this post, I’ll guide you through the process of repurpose your blog content into a compelling YouTube video using Canva—a versatile tool that caters to both free and Pro users.

Here’s how I did it, step by step:

Why Repurpose Blog Posts into Videos?

If you’ve just published a long-form blog post (like our recent 10,000-word guide), congratulations! But don’t stop there. One smart way to extend your reach is by repurposing that blog into a YouTube video. Why?

  • People love video content
  • Provide diverse content formats for your audience
  • Expand your reach across platforms
  • Enhance audience engagement
  • And if you’re on a budget or just starting out, Canva Pro is one of the best tools to do this manually without needing expensive AI video software.

Tools You’ll Need

  • A published blog post
  • A free or Pro Canva account
  • Optional: Brand Kit (available with Canva Pro)
  • Online voice recorder (e.g., Online Voice Recorder)

Step-by-Step: How I Repurpose My Blog Post into Slide Scripts (Using ChatGPT)

1. Script Your Slides

  1. Use ChatGPT to breakdown the blog post into concise slide scripts

  2. Copy the entire blog post content that I wanted to turn into a video.

  3. Paste the whole content in with this prompt:  “Please break this blog post into 12 simple video slide scripts — one short paragraph per slide, no more than 3 lines each.”

  4. ChatGPT gave me a clean breakdown — perfect for each slide, which I copy and paste into the Canva Slide.

2. Search “YouTube Video Presentation” or “16:9 Presentation” on Canva

This gives me a proper video-sized format. I will then choose a clean template that reflects my blog tone.

3. Customize Slides in Canva

  1. Customize the chosen template to align with my brand’s style.
  2. Duplicate slides to maintain consistency and insert your scripted content and relevant images.

Note: If you’re not utilizing the Brand Kit features (like logos or brand colors), the Free version of Canva suffices for this process.

4. Export Slide Show

After designing, export your slides as an MP4 video. This will be a silent slideshow at this stage.

5. Record and Add Voiceover

  1. Review your slides and note the duration needed for each based on your reading pace.

  2. Adjust each slide’s duration in Canva by clicking the “clock” icon.

  3. Use an online voice recorder to record your narration and save it as an MP3 file.

  4. Upload the audio to Canva and synchronize it with your slides.

Tip: Canva’s Beat Sync feature can assist in aligning your audio with the slides. For Free users, manual adjustment using beat markers is available. Pro users have access to the “Sync Now” feature for automatic synchronization.

Recommendation: If you require features like logo uploads or brand color applications, Canva Pro is beneficial. Otherwise, the Free version is adequate for basic video creation.

Canva Free vs. Pro: What’s the Difference?

Smart User Tip: Monthly vs. Yearly Canva Pro

Let’s talk money.

  • Canva Pro Monthly: RM30 (about USD 6.30/month)
  • Canva Pro Yearly: RM250 (about USD 52.70/year)
  • Savings: 30% when you go yearly

But here’s what I did — I went monthly first, tested the experience, and if I’m using it frequently, I’ll upgrade to yearly later.

That way, I stayed on budget and made an informed decision. You can do the same.

Final Thoughts

Transforming your blog posts into videos using Canva is a cost-effective strategy to diversify your content and reach a broader audience. While the process requires time and effort, especially when syncing audio manually, the end result can significantly enhance your content’s appeal.

Can you guess how long it took me to create the final video using the steps above? It was approximately 6 hours—excluding the trial and error and mistakes along the way.

P.S.: Here’s an example of a video I created following this process:

Coming Up Next…

In the next few blog post, I will walk through the process of using an AI video tool (like InVideo) to speed things up even more.
